Memo Arts Centre

The Memo Arts Centre is Barry’s main theatre and cinema, and includes multi-purpose spaces for a variety of performances and community events.

Memo Arts Centre, popularly known as just ‘the Memo’, has a noble history. It was built as a memorial for the Barrians who lost their lives in WWI, through public subscriptions matched by a generous donation by the Davies family. The building design was by Major E.R. Hinchcliffe and inside includes a Hall of Memory, with a Cenotaph standing opposite the main entrance on Gladstone Road. The theatre was completed and opened in 1933.
